Weighing in- Kitchen Scales
Electronic scales are good tools to have around the house when focusing on losing weight or even eating healthier. Many of our beloved restaurants or even mama allowing for second and third helpings or making us join the clean plate club, has trained us to eat in volumes much larger than we actually need for our bodies. This can make for a very frustrating weight loss attempt if you chose all the right foods and are still left wondering why there is no loss or even a gain. Now this isn’t always contributed to portion control however when it is, it’s truly something as simple measuring your food to ensure you’re eating the proper portions. Here I’ll highlight a few scales that will get the job done:
Newline Electronic Kitchen Food Scale
I don’t have this exact scale but one very similar. I like the make of this because I can remove the tray that I place the food in or use the surface of the scale itself. What I did not like about my scale in particular (keep in mind I do not have this exact brand) is the fact that the container sometimes skewed the numbers or if I attempted to weight an item that didn’t have much weight, it would show up as zero, typically items involving liquids but still should have reflected on the scale in some way so that was the only downfall to it that made me consider if I’d be better off with the manual type. The cost for this one is $19.98.
Features:
* Equipped with a high precision strain gauge sensor system
* Safety material(PP for foods)
* Tare function
* Detachable plastic bowl for easy cleaning
* Auto off & Manual off

Salter 021WHDR6 16-Ounce Food Scale with Storage Container and Lid
This is another scale that is similar to one I’ve owned in the past. I liked the mechanical feature of this scale, no matter what I placed in it to weight it produced results. The downfall for this one for me would have been the size. Limited amount of items could be weighted in it due to the fact that the tray is so small. However there are bigger versions available for those that would prefer this style over an electric scale. This particular scale however is only $5.00!!.
Features:
* 16-ounce (500 g) capacity kitchen scale, perfect for diets and baby food
* Mechanical scale with easy-to-read dial
* Dual-purpose weighing container is dishwasher-safe
* Scale stores compactly inside container and seals with snap-on lid
* Measures 4-3/4 by 3-3/4 by 3 inches; 10-year warranty; made in China

And the last one I’m going to highlight is this beauty:
Salter Digital Nutrional Scale for Dry and Liquid Measure
It comes with 1440 foods and liquids programmed into it already plus room for you to add 100 additional foods and recipes of your own. That’s a huge plus when you’re trying to keep on top of your intake and it also allows you to record your daily intake and set goals. Of course it’s a wee bit higher than the other two featured at $73.87. But I suppose for a person that needs help not just in knowing the weight of the food for portion control, but have that ability to track it, this may be a good buy. (Do consider the option of buying one of the less expensive scales and simply writing it down also:))
Features:
* Measures to 6 lbs-10 oz or 3 kg in increments of 1/8 oz or 1 g
* 2 user memory
* Removable Stainless Steel Cover-resistant to staining -easy to clean.
* Measures dry or liquid ingredients
* 10 Year Warranty

All of these items were found on amazon.com however you may purchase them at retail stores as well. I purchased mines from a kitchen store, they have them at stores like bed bath and beyond and so on so for those that are not interested in shopping online or are like me and like to be able to touch and view the item (at least this type) before purchasing you can buy them in store as well.
