A few months ago I wrote an article about modesty and it got me to thinking after the fact, how many of us as Christian women truly know what that means? When I wrote it, I did so with the understanding that our beauty shouldn’t be merely outward, as pinned by Peter. Yet without taking away from the fact that women are beautiful creatures that love beautiful things and that being a believer doesn’t take away from this fact NOR limits us from being able to delve into such beauty. What being a believer does create is a desire to dress in a way that is pleasing to our LORD, for the married that statement includes husbands as well (small L however:)). So when you think of modesty do you think plain Jane, colorless, drab? Or do you think of clothes that are non-revealing, rather fashionable or not? It’s a topic that is at times translated incorrectly biblically based on what man’s twists and turns to the subject has added to it or take from it.....and that’s mankind not males, let me be clear on that point! Therefore we the Christian woman can become skewed in our thinking towards fashion. Either going to the extreme of denouncing fashion for the sake of holiness or denouncing holiness for the sake of fashion. Give 1 Peter 3 a read, namely vs 3&4. Also Proverbs 31, this woman is quite the example of what a godly woman looks like on the inside and how it reflects her outward choices.

This bring me to a young lady of our times who is seeking to please her LORD with her choices in apparel as well as catering to other women who wish to do the same. Her name is Christa Taylor and she is the owner of a self titled company that creates and sells modest apparel. What is particularly awesome about her company is that 30% of the profits are given to social justice programs around the world!! So as you browse through the website and see some prices that are a little on the high scale, remember 30% of that purchase will go to global missions. It is an excellent example of our call to give. Of course this also being a business that is fashion focused, I must say that Christa has some great taste in clothing and the designs on her site is a good model to have in mind when shopping overall.
