Adrianne Archie HTHAELHH

HTHAELHH (He that hath an ear let him hear) was released in 2006 and is the first release by Louisville Kentucky’s own, Adrianne Archie.  When I first saw the CD art I thought to myself it probably has a neo soul style, very non traditional Christian or very traditional gospel trying to sound non-traditional Christian.  Decided to peep the samples and she does have that neo soul sound, although that is no longer the accepted term for the genre, fortunately the sound Adrianne presents here still lives on. Track number two titled “Who Jesus Is”, tells us how everyone ought to know who He is, and I love that Archie focuses on the personal relationship to be had here, can’t get to Him via grandma’s faith gotta know Him for self. “Always On Time” is a story of her suffering for over 8 years with back issues, she explains in the song how God healed her of her ailments and how going thorough that pain taught her faith, trust, and then some via her condition while praising God for healing her, this song serves as a testimony of God’s healing as well as His ability to grow and strengthen His children, even when they’re going through painful situations.

A personal favorite of mines is “Praise Elevation” it’s a cut where Adrianne for the most part sings acapella she does string the guitar a bit in the background, which is a nice touch but other than that it’s all vocals. “I must take this time today to elevate my praise for You” belts out Archie. It’s an extremely simple song lyrically but so powerful both vocally as well as it’s message. What I could do without on this on are the friends in the background laughing and joking, I take it it’s suppose to have that laid back feel yet it takes away from the song a bit for me at the end of this track. image

Next up, “Used to Do” this is so so important a song as Archie tells her listeners how she can’t hang around who she use to, hold it down like she use to, get around like she use to no longer use to what she use to do. I appreciate this song especially for the no longer use to what I use to do point. This speaks of the internal change that takes place in a believer as well as true repentance which is a turning away from sin oppose to a wow God my bad.  Lastly the title track, He that hath an ear let him hear gets to the nit and grit of repentance. It’s amazing how such a hard core message can be sung so beautifully and without taking away from it’s message.

There is much to be said about this Cd with more good than bad I’d say even some of the efforts that may not be my favorite (as I stated parts of Praise Elevation, U Never Change seems never ending, Jesus U reign not my particular style arrangement wise) I can enjoy this cd in it’s entirety without tiring of it.
