-
Christmas time will be here before we know it and we'll be faced with choices of what to eat and how much of it. Do I go to the Christmas party at the office or do I skip it to avoid temptation? Hopefully the tips within this article will help to make your decision a bit easier this time around.
Beware of Trigger Foods
You’ve been there before right? You make the decision to eat healthier so you buy all of the healthy foods like carrots and apples, whole grain breads, etc. Perhaps you make the decision to eat soups that are liquid based and not cream, non fat yogurt rather than ice cream, different changes in lifestyle that are pretty easy to obtain. You find yourself doing really well and imagining yourself 10 years from now (if still hear Lord willing) still eating this way and wondering why you never did before.
Whole Grain Vs. Whole Wheat - What’s the Best for You? Part II
By Linda Cramer
Here is an easy way of finding the healthiest breads and cereals that you can. Number one, look for the words WHOLE GRAIN. Look at the first two ingredients, if one those two do not say WHOLE GRAIN, put it back! Number 2, look for the FDA-approved health claim that reads “In a low fat diet, whole grain foods may reduce the risk of heart disease and some forms of cancer”. That sounds easy enough doesn’t it. Now you have no more excuses when you are at the store. You can find healthy breads and cereals for you and your family.
Just Do It!!!
If I may borrow the phrase from Nike for a moment:) When it comes to the topic of health and fitness, rather it’s losing weight, eating healthier, developing a fitness routine or whatever else that fits the category. Very few of us have the thought one day and commit to some type of plan the next. Usually it’s think about it, decide to plan on it later, maybe come up with a plan but definitely talk about it to others and then maybe finally committing but usually watching all the time that has gone by and what could have been achieved during that time which then ushers you into the last stage of guilt. That’s followed by “well when I’m ready I’ll know so I’ll wait until I’m ready”, trust me when I say that day never comes. What may happen is the success of others may excite you to begin something or the tragedy of others may sober us into beginning but the perfect start day will never come. And if we do not commit to getting it done even when motivation comes were only as good as it is. In other words as long as I’m motivated to follow so and so’s plan than I’ll stick to it, as soon as it lose the appeal I’m back where I’ve started.
