The Daily Dish-Fat Smash Diet Day #1

Okay so today I start The Fat Smash Diet, at least the 9 day detox portion. Thinking I’ll at least do a week of the diet itself (after detox), since it so closely models what I’m already doing/eating didn’t see the need however that bit of structure may help in staying consistent and not straying into sugar land so I shall see. So far so good with this detox, as suspected it is easier than my prior

Review-Weight Watchers

I thought it would be a good idea to give some reviews on the weight loss programs I’ve tried. If able I will try a few of the others if for no other reason than to review it here on theskinty.com but for now there are two programs that I’ve been on in my lifetime and that’s Weight Watchers and Quick Weight Loss/LA Weight Loss.

Starting with WW, I when I joined Weight Watchers I’d done so on the job. I’d signed up to the Weight Watchers at work program and I’d fought it tooth and nail at first because I was so determined to do it alone because I’d already know how to so it seemed like such a waste. But I’d decided I truly needed the accountability that’s offered in such a program so figured I’d give it a go at least for the time I’d be on the program at work. Getting the accountability not only in the form of a coach, but having fellow coworkers on site who make it more difficult to eat just anything while eating on the premises. I know many are familiar with Weight Watchers but for those that are not, it’s a program that stresses a lifestyle change opposed to dieting. Utilizing either Flex Points, a points system to track foods and leaving nothing off limits but taking on an everything in moderation approach. Or utilizing is called Core Foods, where you’re given a list of core foods to eat as much as you’d like within limits of the plan, and some flex points to use throughout the week. I went with the Flex Points system.

Each week, I believe it was Tuesday of each week we’d meet within the workplace to get weighted in, receive recipes and depending on the stage of the program, new fact sheets that consisted either of fitness tips, or ways to get the best usage of points or whatever the case may be. The coach would give us different pointers, be there to answer any questions we may have and also we could purchase snacks and things from him. You received a small booklet of points with the option to purchase a restaurant guide and journals to track your points daily.

Overall I liked the program and felt it to be exactly the same as what I did on my own with the exception of tracking foods by points rather than calories and fat. We also tracked fiber as it’s a good source for keeping things moving if you know what I mean and weight loss as a whole. Knowing I’d weight in weekly kept me on my toes often, as well as simply seeing the numbers go down. Overall I’d lost about 25 pounds while on the program I believe and got my little reward for doing so:) Having the input from others on the program was a blessing as well. Just like within the body (Of Christ) we can tear ourselves apart or allow Satan to when we’re having a hard time of things and left with our own thoughts concerning them. Seemingly you’re the only one failing or just meant to be fat or whatever the case. Hearing others say they’ve struggled in this as well helps you to realize that yes while you did fall, getting back on point is the important thing where as wallowing will only make things worse and cause you to give up. There is also the use of their website, I believe non members can join as well but don’t quote me on that.
