Hi visitor welcome, glad to have you here!

Comments are now open for all

I truly want this to be a place of community, hence my desire to have people join the site before being an active part of this site. However I realize some of us are more comfortable getting to know a place before committing. Therefore I’m allowing for all visitors to be able to comment under the articles. The blogs will still remain private as well as the forums. Hopefully more of you will join me in conversation around these parts. With over 170,000 hits to the site I know you’re out there. Just got to get everyone active.

image I’m focused on eating less meat so there will be a lot more posts relating to vegetarian/vegan products. I’m actually taking a leap and trying some things that I would not normally such as the product I’m about to review to the left of this writing:)

Amy’s Veggie Burgers

    image

Amy, or should I say Amy’s mom is my new best friend:) I just had a taste of the All American Veggie Burger, and I do mean taste because I wasn’t hungry enough to make my own yet didn’t want to take over my daughter’s. I believe I mentioned when doing the review on the Pizza, how I purchased the veggie burgers but they went uneaten. Yeah renewing the mind must go down in all areas of this life or we just a plum mess. What would it have hurted to try what I already had at home? Anyway so I finally decided to try some, my fear was well similar to my frozen meat fear, that it would taste like some artificial think that someone threw together in hopes that a brave soul would come along and buy it. Yet as I’ve said in the past, can’t know what will be good if I don’t take the chance of trying it. So I took the chance and tried a box of the veggie burgers. Decided to go with the all american because I knew if I went with one of the enchanced burgers and liked it, I’d never try the original, the opposite happending would have produced the same results.

Daily Really?/Obesity Hositbal

Who knew the daily dish would require me to actually write on something daily LOL. I’ll most likely be changing that to the semi-daily or every other day dish:). Either that or make this a member feature for anyone to post to. Thing is I don’t want to just post a bunch of information just to do so, I want it to mean something to at least one person reading it over being information overload. And at the same time, some readers may want to be able to view more than once monthly so wanted to provide at least one section with a bit of balance where you’re getting more but the entire website isn’t updated daily. I shall see how it goes, just don’t get upset if I don’t have anything day to day.

What I did want to share is a television show I watched on TLC last night called “Inside Brookhaven Obesity Clinic” It was actually a marathon of the show on yesterday, I’ll post some info from the TLC site on one of the episodes “The Brookhaven Rehabilitation Centre in New York is home to 75 of America’s fattest people who are desperate to lose the weight that is killing them. The emergency services struggle to save 750 pound Dennis Davis as he’s suffocated by his own weight.”

Not all that keen on the description but we get the gist of what’s being said, I watched a few of the episodes and it was really sad many of the cases. Especially on where this man had a disease due to an infection that came in from an open cut. The disease cases the leg to swell tremendously, actually it’s a growth taking over his leg and requires surgery to be removed. He cannot have the surgery until he loses at least 100+ pounds because the doctors didn’t want to put him under at his current weight. Losing weight as was the case for many of the residence is difficult and while I agree with what the resident doctor had to say. Being comfortable in the weight is larger than the desire to have his leg taken care of or he’d simply lose the weight. I agree in that we can be our own worse enemy and biggest setback to reaching goals. However this man most likely needs some council possibly depressed and in a comfort zone of staying in that hospital the whole mentality needs to be shaken. I’ve basically been praying for him since viewing the show, from the looks of it, it’s recent and truly it’ll take the Holy Spirit getting in that heart to heal in so many ways.

This show also showed me where I could be if I allowed food to stay a huge center in my life, while I can’t judge how any of those I viewed got to the place they are. I can definitely say the addiction to the drug that comes in the form of food has to be dealt with or it’ll take them out, one woman did die actually on one of the episodes I watched. Definitely an eye opener and something we could all learn from.
