Book Review: Love to Eat, Hate to Eat: Breaking the Bondage of Destructive Eating Habits

When I read a review about this book on another website, I knew it was one that I had to read for myself. Not only for the sake of The Skinty, but for my benefit as a believer who struggles in the area of overeating as well. What I expected from the book after reading a bit about it was biblical counsel on the topic, personal experience as to how the biblical counsel changed the author's life, and solutions that would allow for permanent changes. I've found all of these things and more within Love to Eat Hate to Eat and then some. I'm typically not a big fan of self help/topical books by Christians because they tend to state the obvious, quote all of the scriptures that you've looked into yourself than reprimand you for not getting it. Whereas many of us find ourselves failing not because we don't have a

Adrianne Archie HTHAELHH

HTHAELHH (He that hath an ear let him hear) was released in 2006 and is the first release by Louisville Kentucky’s own, Adrianne Archie.  When I first saw the CD art I thought to myself it probably has a neo soul style, very non traditional Christian or very traditional gospel trying to sound non-traditional Christian.  Decided to peep the samples and she does have that neo soul sound, although that is no longer the accepted term for the genre, fortunately the sound Adrianne presents here still lives on. Track number two titled “Who Jesus Is”, tells us how everyone ought to know who He is, and I love that Archie focuses on the personal relationship to be had here, can’t get to Him via grandma’s faith gotta know Him for self. “Always On Time” is a story of her suffering for over 8 years with back issues, she explains in the song how God healed her of her ailments and how going thorough that pain taught her faith, trust, and then some via her condition while praising God for healing her, this song serves as a testimony of God’s healing as well as His ability to grow and strengthen His children, even when they’re going through painful situations.

Chew on This-Agave Nectar

image I’ve been trying to find a nice sugar substitute for the longest time and I think I may have finally found one in Agave Nectar. I’d read up about it on the net and thought I was in trouble when reading it describes as a product that tastes like sugar, isn’t that said about everything! Still trying to figure out how Splenda tastes like sugar and perhaps it’s just the afte taste that won’t allow me to agree with that claim.

Here are some details from the Wholesome Sweeteners site, this is the particular brand I purchased however no the only one that offers Agave Nectar:

Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Raw Blue Agave nectar is a low-glycemic sweetener produced from organically grown and processed Blue Agave (Agave tequilana var. Weber) plants. The “Weber Azul” is a cactus-like plant that grows in the Jalisco region of Mexico; it’s been used for more than 5000 years to sustain the region’s inhabitants. Organic Raw Blue

Paolo Gourmet Pizzeria

Before I get started with this review I want to say to those of you who are not in Philadelphia or the surrounding area, you’re more than welcome to submit a restaurant review for me to post to the site, just sent it to contact [at]theskinty.com. I don’t want to be so Philly heavy when there are already a variety of states represented on the site, plus it enhances the interactive experience on the site so please do bring em on.

With that said let me introduce to some and perhaps cause others to salivate:), Paolo Gourmet Pizzeria. I’m telling you if I could uproot this place and move it to my neighborhood I absolutely would! I’ve worked near this pizza shop for about two years and never thought much about going in, not even sure what led me to finally do so. All I know is I’ve been hooked ever since I did and it’s one of the most “diet” friendly shops I’ve ever gone to. It’s one thing to say ok I’m going to eat a slice with veggies, but to have the option to buy a slice of pizza on a whole wheat crust or veggies and sauce no cheese or just the large selection of veggie filled pizza, it’s an absolute blessing.
